LifeSmarts Sign-up

  • ?LifeSmarts is open to students in the 6th-12th grade, and is an exciting, quiz-bowl style competition team. The goal of LifeSmarts is to create consumer savvy young people who will be well equipped for adult life in today’s complex, global marketplace.? LifeSmarts, the nation’s premier consumer program, has never been more relevant. Entering its 32nd year, LifeSmarts provides real-world education for students who learn about core consumer topics and develop critical thinking skills. Participants focus on five key topic areas: consumer rights and responsibilities, the environment, health and safety, personal finance, and technology.
    • Deadline to sign up is August 15.

High School Adventure Weekend

  • ?September 12-14 | 9th-12th grade | $125
    • Calling all Columbia County 4-H High Schoolers!? We are planning a total Adventure Weekend with Whitewater Express in Columbus, GA.? We will be journeying down the Chattahoochee River on the classic rafting trip, and then taking on the Blue Heron zip line adventure.? We will be staying Friday and Saturday night at Fortson 4-H Center.

Fall on the Farm

  • ?September 20 | 5th-12th grade | $12
    • Join Georgia 4-H and the Atlanta History Center for an exciting day filled with hands-on learning experiences and history! Explore the many buildings & exhibits at the center, meet farm animals on the Swan House lawn, participate in hands-on activities, and more!??


4-H Open House

  • ?October 7 | 6pm-8pm | 4-H Office in Appling
    • Stop by and see what 4-H is all about!? We will have information on specialty clubs & upcoming events, carnival games, giveaways, and shirt sales. Drop by between 6-8pm and meet the 4-H team and volunteers!

Portfolio Workshops

  • ?
    • ?7th-12th graders must attend at least 2 portfolio workshops to be able to submit a portfolio and attend DPA. Upcoming portfolio workshop dates are: August 29, October 13, November 11, November 25, and December 22.? All workshops will be from 1pm-4pm at the 4-H Office in Appling.? All portfolios are due by January 6, 2026. Competition is March 6-8, 2026 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center.
