How Can You Become a 4-H Volunteer?
If you would like to become a volunteer, please contact the Effingham County 4-H Office to request the volunteer application link. The screening process begins with completing the online application, followed by a background check conducted by 黑料网 Human Resources in Athens to ensure a safe environment for youth. Two reference recommendations are also required, and these cannot be from family members. In addition, all applicants must complete the Risk Management Training, an online module and quiz that will be emailed to you once your application is received. This training is designed to help volunteers better understand the mission of 4-H and Cooperative Extension, the fundamentals of youth development, and the appropriate practices and protocols for working with young people. Once you have completed the screening process, you will be recognized as a screened volunteer. To maintain this certification, volunteers must stay in contact with 4-H county staff at least once each quarter.

What Opportunities Are There for Me to Get Involved in Effingham County 4-H?
Do you have a passion for youth or a specific skill set you would like to share? There are many ways to get involved in our 4-H program! There are also varying levels of commitment when it comes to volunteering—whether you want to serve at a one-time event or lead a monthly specialty club, there is something for everyone!
- Specialty Club Leader- Teach specific skills such as cooking, gardening, STEM, arts,? or sewing at a monthly club or a one time workshop.?
- Event Helper- Assist with fairs, contests, workshops, and community service projects.?
- Chaperone- Support youth at camps, conferences, and special events.?
- Judge- Provide feedback at competitions and exhibitions.?
- Certified Coach- Lead and train youth in programs such as archery, shotgun, and various judging teams.?
